Emtza Denial

What is it:

Emtza Denial is the set of feelings that most Emtza USYers feel after returning home from a convention.  These are the strong emotions inside the body which yearn for a convention and tear you apart.

Symptoms:

  • A need for another convention
  • Rapid communication between Jewish friends
  • Angry when friends not on AIM
  • Regularly attending services when you are not a very religious person

How long does it last?

Emtza Denial has been known to last for weeks.  Although this is very uncommon, some USYers experience this.  The typical case lasts three to five days.

How do you cure it?

Currently there are no perfect cures for this distressing situation.  Many people have created temporary distractions although none of them completely heal you.  Some ways to help yourself are:

  • IM your Jewish friends
  • Call your Jewish friends
  • Go to services
  • Meditate to that “ly, ly, lylylyly, ly-ly” Havdallah tune
